Project Overview

Rapid growth in Manteca has strained many of the City’s intersections and arterials. McKinley Avenue is an important road that connects the City of Manteca local traffic to SR120. It serves as a major connection for goods movement between State Route 99 (SR 99) and Interstate 5 (I-5) and connects Manteca to the City of Lathrop.

The SR 120 / McKinley Avenue Interchange Project is located along SR120 between Yosemite Ave and Airport Way within the limits of both the City of Manteca and San Joaquin County.

The approved project alternative is a partial cloverleaf (Type L-9) interchange that includes on- and off-ramps, auxiliary lanes on SR120, ramp metering, and roadway improvements on McKinley Avenue, including Class II bike lanes.

Improve Traffic Circulation and Accommodate Forecasted Traffic Demand: It will provide access to, and exit from, SR120. The interchange will help relieve congestion on local roads in the area and accommodate forecasted traffic increases as the Family Entertainment Zone and residential areas continue to develop.

Accommodate Planned Growth: The Interchange will help accommodate the planned growth that the City of Manteca, San Joaquin County, and the San Joaquin County Council of Governments have envisioned in their planning documents. Residential developments have already been permitted on the north and south sides of SR120.

Reduce Congestion on Local Roads:  The new improvements will connect regional arterials with SR 120 and provide an alternate route to and from the highway for local traffic.

Reduce Congestion on State Route 120: The Interchange will incorporate access ramp metering which will reduce traffic congestion and enhance safety on SR 120.

Project Updates

The project has been completed. These are the final project photos; additional road closures will be added if necessary.
